MICROSEISMIC
WORKSHOP

BP Houston,
29 May, 2013

EDGER Forum Microsesimic Workshop

The purpose of this workshop was to share insights into geophysical characterization of shales with particular focus on microseismic data applications. The EDGER Forum has been addressing which geophysical properties of shales may differentiate between good and poor producing wells. This workshop was designed to expand geophysical observations to the use of passive seismic observations for understanding locations, timing, and uncertainty of microseismic events as well as exploring relationships between productivity related to different induced fracture sets. The workshop provided EDGER Forum members an opportunity to share problems and discuss fundamental issues related to uses of microseismic observations with other corporate sponsors as well as faculty, students and researchers from the Jackson School of Geosciences UT-Austin. The outcome of this workshop helped to better definition of problems as well as define future student and faculty research projects.
